Call me

September 18, 2009

 HEY !!

Just back today from taking several months off from updating the site… I was checking to see if any of you still come to the site and would notice the spider webs !  About five of you gave us crap over the drought of updates, so to you five, we salute you ! I’ll give you each a band T-Shirt.

‘scuse me… What ? Really ?

OK, it turns out we don’t have any of those so, did I mention ?   “WE SALUTE YOU !”

I suppose there hasn’t been a ton of stuff to say. Let’s see… in a nutshell…

I’m finally going to unplug the Guestbook. There were a few really fun entries in there, mostly by the demented Tequila Pete ! There WERE a number of really nice comments too, but it’s been totally taken over by loser Eastern Europeans cyber a-holes who seem to extract much pleasure in using the old Commodore 64s we shipped over there to write gibberish or sell (certainly fake) Viagra and Cialis all up and down our guestbook. What a blight.o solo / vocal shows … al the way down to Club Med in Turks and Caicos !!! Sweet gig. You might also see her around occasionally duo-ing with legendary music-maker, John McGale.

A Loose Change ‘news’ update …

We played an awesome New Year’s Eve party at Clint’s a while ago. Lots and lots of fun, great food, great people, great venue. Special thanks to Tom Labelle, an ex-colleague and Clint’s patron, who put in a good word for us. Karine and Adam did the first part of the NYE show and did an amazing job. Look Karine up on MySpace. She is very talented AND a sweetheart as well.

Of course, a number of Clint’s dates ensued and they were all special for one reason or another.

Somewhere in there Loose Change played a new venue over at Le Skratch Billiards in Pierrefonds. We had a blast at that gig also. A lot of friends turned out and there were an awful lot of shooters flying around the place that night… Look for us to be playing / partying there very soon.

Of course there were a bunch of super fun Kelly’s Pub dates in there, with a lot of great guest players / singers as well as Pete Fox ;-)  etc…

Our last weekend through, we had the amazing and talented multi-instrumentalist, Jason Graveley (Retro Crush, Jason and Andre, ex-Miranda Rocks and ex-SUPERSTONE) who super-graciously zoomed up from Cornwall both nights to sit in on bass with us because our own wonderful Michel Careau couldn’t be there. What can you say about this guy ? We just emailed him a list of songs and he just ploughed through the performance, like 99% flawlessly. (He screwed up less than I did !! )  He even nailed both the Beatles and Stones medleys we do, even though he had never even heard us play them before ! What a privilege it is to play with this guy.

We were fortunate enough to have Rachel Kapasi from Darling Nikki sit in with us too when we had a date slip out to a weekend where Sherry had an out of town commitment already lined up. We practically did whole new sets for that gig and even called ourselves The Nom Nom Noms instead of Loose Change. What a great job she did. That was special and went off great too !

Thanks so much to both of them and we feel very lucky to be surrounded by talented, musical friends !

Of course, we’re always swapping in and out some new (classic) tunes into the set lists. Lately, you can expect to hear stuff like Band on the Run, or Boys of Summer or Like The Way I Do or Can’t Stand Losing You or Just What I Needed or The Ocean or… the list goes on and on. Of course, Roller and Tie Your Mother Down and Keep On Loving Me Baby and all the ‘staple’ hits that our friends / guests like to hear make an appearance as well.

We’ll be updating the Playlist on this site within the next few weeks. Keeping it ‘real’.

If you want to reconnect with some of your best Classic Rock and Pop favorites, check our upcoming dates and drop in to check out Loose Change 2009 soon !

 Peace,

Garry
